Lake St. Helen Advisory Board

The Lake St. Helen Advisory Board will provide input to the Delegated Authority with respect to decisions surrounding the maintenance of Lake St. Helen’s legal lake level. The Advisory Board will have the following functions:

 

  • Provides a pulse on the sentiment and opinions of property owners in the Lake St. Helen – Lake Level Special Assessment District (SAD) 

  • Brings a broad set of leadership experience and knowledge of related subject matter 

  • Reviews lake level and engineering studies and alternatives 

  • Makes recommendations and offers opinions on lake level-related projects to the Delegated Authority 

  • Acts in an advisory capacity (does not have any formal statutory or decision-making power) and is therefore not subject to Open Meetings Act requirements

  2. Richfield Township non-homesteaded waterfront property owner within the SAD 

  3. Richfield Township homesteaded waterfront property owner within the SAD 

  4. Richfield Township non-homesteaded backlot property owner within the SAD 

  5. Richfield Township homesteaded backlot property owner within the SAD 

  6. Higgins Township Board member or their chosen representative 

  7. Roscommon County Delegated Authority 

Advisory Board Members

The seven volunteer members serve two-year terms that can be renewed one time. 

Board Establishment Process

  1. Applicants for property owner members fill out an online application here

  2. Application deadline: 4 pm on June 28

  3. The Roscommon County Lake Level Committee, along with the Delegated Authority, will review applications and perform interviews if deemed necessary.  

  4. After selections are made, the Delegated Authority will notify the applicants.  

  5. The Roscommon County commissioners will confirm the six property owner appointees by resolution.  

  6. At the first meeting, the Delegated Authority will provide background information about the project, Part 307, the SAD, etc. to ensure each member has a comprehensive understanding of the goals and objectives of the project.
